The Ohio State University (OSU) and The Virginia Commonwealth University-VCU have established the Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) on Precision Forming (CPF, www.cpforming.org) focusing on the needs of metal forming industry. National Science Foundation (NSF) is partially funding this activity together with the participating companies. CPF will use extensively the knowledge base, developed at the Engineering Research Center for Net Shape Manufacturing (ERC/NSM) at The Ohio State University (Director Dr. Taylan Altan) that is now merged with CPF. To find out about the R&D activities of ERC/NSM, please click here (www.ercnsm.org)
The OBJECTIVES of the CPF are to:
- Improve existing metal forming processes/products and develop new innovative processes, tooling and equipment.
- Conduct projects in close collaboration with industry and transfer the results to the member companies.
- Train and educate engineers who are familiar with the fundamentals and practice of metal forming science and technology.
New members are welcome to participate in CPF. There are three types of membership (for details, please see the Membership Agreement, link given below):
